The annual event KANPAI 2025, dedicated to celebrating Japanese sake and culinary culture, was held on Saturday, September 27, at Artyzen Singapore, organized by Media Japan Pte. Ltd.
About 85 guests gathered for an elegant evening filled with fine sake, exquisite Japanese dishes, and lively cultural exchange.
The event opened with a dynamic taiko performance by Hibikiya Singapore, whose powerful rhythms instantly energized the audience. Following the performance, Takeshi Naito, Representative of Media Japan, gave the opening address and led the crowd in the symbolic toast — “KANPAI!” — officially starting the celebration.
This year’s exhibitors showcased a wide range of Japan’s finest flavors:
– Kirei Japanese Food Supply(sake, agodashi ramen, sake cups, and small plate sets)
– MITSUGEN (premium sake and liqueurs)
– Saketaberu (original sake)
– Columba Noe Pte Ltd (Ehime yellowtail and sea bream sashimi, and Kagoshima wagyu beef).
Guests visited each booth to explore the unique aromas and characteristics of different sake labels, enjoying perfect pairings with sashimi and wagyu beef. Many praised the exceptional freshness of the fish and the deep flavor of the wagyu, noting that “this level of quality is rare in Singapore.” Kirei’s elegant Japanese-made tableware also attracted attention, inspiring many visitors with ideas for their own dining tables.
At the sake booths, knowledgeable staff explained the regional backgrounds and brewing processes of each label. Conversations flowed naturally among both newcomers and seasoned sake enthusiasts as they compared flavors and shared preferences. Comments such as “I feel closer to Japanese culture” and “I discovered new sake brands tonight” were frequently heard throughout the event.
Since 2014, KANPAI has become a well-loved platform promoting Japanese sake and culinary culture in Singapore. The organizer, Media Japan, continues to serve as a bridge between Japan and Singapore through media outreach and cultural events. With the warm smiles and applause that filled the venue, KANPAI 2025 once again lived up to its name — a night truly worthy of a heartfelt “KANPAI!”
